Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This policy explains what Kickback (kickback.now) collects, why, and your choices. We try to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
- Phone number — to create your account and sign you in by text code.
- Display name — shown on your RSVPs and tickets.
- Event details you provide — for hosts, this includes your event's address and coordinates, which we keep private and reveal only to approved guests at your chosen time.
- Approximate location — if you allow it, your device location is used to show parties near you. It's used in the moment and not stored as a profile.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We don't store your card details; we keep records of the transaction (such as amounts and status).
- Basic usage data — minimal logs needed to run and secure the service.
How we use it
To operate Kickback: authenticate you, show relevant events, process entry payments, run check-in, enforce our rules and rate limits, and keep the platform safe. We don't sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
Service providers that help us run the platform — notably Stripe (payments) and our cloud infrastructure provider (database, authentication, and storage). We may disclose information if required by law or to protect people's safety. A host sees the display name and RSVP status of guests for their own event.
Addresses & Location Security
An event's exact address and coordinates are never shown publicly and are released only to approved guests at the host's reveal time. To protect exact locations before they drop, we display a randomly offset area securely calculated once upon event creation.
Guests who receive an address must keep it confidential (see the Terms). While we employ strict server-side controls to hide exact coordinates pre-reveal, no digital system is completely impenetrable, and hosts provide location data at their own risk. We disclaim any liability for leaks, breaches, or unauthorized sharing of location data.
Retention
We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to run the service, comply with the law, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. You can ask us to delete your account.
Your choices
You can decline location access in your browser at any time. You can request access to or deletion of your information by contacting us. Some records (such as payment and audit records) may be retained where required.
Children
Kickback is not for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes & contact
